STEM Nola to host STEM Fest Dec. 23

The New Orleans Bowl, in partnership with STEM NOLA and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, is hosting a STEM Fest during the holiday break. Students who register and attend the event will also receive free tickets to the New Orleans Bowl game for themselves and a parent, guardian or chaperone.

The free event on Tuesday, Dec. 23 will take place at the Caesars Superdome from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Students and their families can register at stemnola.com.

Tyra Metoyer, chief operating officer of STEM Nola, said the organization’s goal is to inspire and engage students.

“We want students and their families to see themselves as makers, creators, innovators– and people who can and should do STEM,” Metoyer said. “It will be a high-energy, high-impact event where students will engage with the STEM stations, meet college students and STEM professionals, and enjoy a great college football bowl game in the Caesar’s Superdome.”

The New Orleans Bowl Stem Fest will include more 60 hands-on stations covering a range of science, technology, engineering and math topics. Kindergarten through 12th grade students will be able to fly drones, explore the planet in the Star Lab, make a car in the maker space, make slime. STEM professionals from Chevron and a range of universities and companies will volunteer at the event.

All students and their caregivers will receive game tickets to the New Orleans Bowl matchup between the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and Southern Miss Golden Eagles, which kicks-off at 4:30 pm. The first 100 participants at STEM fest will receive a mystery gift that are wrapped and range from toys and games to science experiments.

STEM NOLA will resume STEM River Parishes in early 2026, with the goal of providing consistent, monthly programming to St. Charles, St. James, and St. John Parishes. There will be a STEM Fest in St. John Parish in January 2026.
