The Hahnville boys’ track and field team won their second-straight district championship last Thursday. The Tigers cruised to the District 7-5A title by scoring 124.50 points, edging out second place Thibodaux by 20 points.
Hahnville’s Brandon Singleton continued to dominate the hurdles, winning first place in both the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles with times of 14.81 and 39.15.
Fellow Tiger Beau Robinson was named the MVP of the event after winning the 800 meter run with a time of 2:04.20 and finishing second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:38.03. Beau’s twin brother, Bryce, won the 1600 meter run and the 3200 meter run with times of 4:36.80 and 9:58.94, respectively.
Other top finishers for Hahnville included Evan Barbier and Logan Martindale, who came in second and third, respectively, in the javelin throw.
Jalen Knight took home second place in the high jump, while Hunter Perrin came in fourth in the shot put with a throw of 42-08.75.
Hahnville’s Larry Boyd also had a big day, finishing third in the 300 meter hurdles and fifth in the 110 meter hurdles.Fellow Tiger Mattray Nedd finished fourth in the 400 meter dash.
While Destrehan finished seventh out of eight teams in the district championships, Kirk Merritt captured the top spot in the 100 meter dash with a blazing time of 10.98. Teammate Will Matthews won the shot put with a distance of 47-02.
Destrehan also finished second in the 4×100 meter relay.
