For almost 55 years, a Glaser has taken care of the dental needs of St. Charles Parish residents.
Dr. Peter Glaser established Glaser Family Practice in Boutte back in 1965, and while he is retired now, his work continues through the efforts of his daughter, Dr. Laurie Glaser, who joined the practice in 2001.
“Our local patients are the backbone of our practice,” Laurie said. “We take our time with patients and will spend as long as necessary to properly diagnose and treat folks. We’re not in a rush. So over the years we really get to know everyone. They even have my cell phone number in case they have an emergency.”
Laurie said her patients are like family, especially since some have been visiting Glaser Family Practice for generations.
“It gives me so much pleasure to fix people’s smiles,” she said. “To make them feel good and confident when smiling. And to be able to make them fully comfortable throughout that process.”
Laurie is an active member of the American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, New Orleans Dental Association, and a member of numerous study clubs. She’s earned certification from the Esthetic Skin Institute and The American Academy of Facial Esthetics for administration of Botox and dermal fillers like Restylane and Juvederm. She frequently attends continuing education courses both nationally and internationally, keeping up with the latest technology, research and techniques in the ever-changing world of dentistry.
One of the changes the practice wasn’t ready for, howe ver, was the impact of both COVID and Hurricane Ida.
“I think COVID and Ida were a challenge for all of us, with some more affected than others,” Laurie said. “But Ida literally knocked us out of commission for almost 17 months, which is difficult for any business. The silver lining is that we have a brand new gorgeous high-tech office just down the road from our previous one.”
The new office opened in January 2023 and is located at 13322 Hwy. 90 Suite J in Boutte.
“Our new spot got quite a few major upgrades in technology,” Laurie said. “Plus it’s much more open, airy, and feels more calming and comfortable. It’s super lovely in here. And the state-of-the-art technology allows us to do more, for example better diagnostics and more implants.
“Everything is at our fingertips, with bigger screens to show and enable patients to better understand what’s going on in their mouths.”
While she enjoys the new office, she did say the move was bittersweet.
“My father started the old office before I was born and grew it from a tiny practice into one of the larger solo dental practices in the state,” she said. “I grew up as a little girl going in there, playing with all of materials and spending time with the staff. Some of that staff worked for us for over 40 years, so started with him and retired while working with me after a decade. Everyone working with me now also worked with my father in that first office.
“We’ve all got so many wonderful memories there. “
Glaser Family Practice currently has a couple specials going on right now, including complimentary whitening trays for new patients who come in for a cleaning, x-rays and an exam as well as for those patients who haven’t visited the office in more than two years.
