We have many things to be thankful for

This Thanksgiving Day, we have a lot to be thankful for.

Of course, we do have problems. We learned extensively about all of them during the recent Presidential election campaign. Our economic doldrums. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hurricane damages here and there that haven’t been repaired. Etc. Etc.

But people have gotten used to the good life. When things decline in any aspect of our existence, we wonder why things are so bad.

Compared to what things were like only a few decades ago, we have come a long way.

Today would be a good day to sit down and write down the beneficial things we are doing that our parents and grandparents couldn’t do 100 years ago. And you had better have several sheets of paper to complete the list.

Above all, we are happy to be alive and able to choose to a great extent what type of life to lead. We have a lot more choices than in yesteryear.

And we still have the freedom to make those choices. For all of that, we are thankful.
