James Everett Pierce

James Everett Pierce passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 at the age of 89. He was a native of Lewiston, MN and a resident of Destrehan, LA for 37 years and recently resided in Covington, LA.
Beloved husband of the late Carol Rasmuson Pierce by first marriage and Marjorie Ball Brannen by second marriage. Loving father of Rebecca Ann Pierce (Jeanne), Steven Wayne Pierce (Patty), Scott Thomas Pierce (Joan), Christopher James Pierce (Ann Marie), Melissa Pierce Flanagan (Keith) and the late Timothy Allen Pierce. Stepfather of John David Brannen (Ruth), Janelle Brannen Harlan (Leo) and Matthew Stuart Brannen (Cara). Grandfather of James Allen Pierce, Steven Michael Pierce, Stacy Pierce Pritchett, Patrick Keith Flanagan, Elizabeth Liu Pierce, Thomas Liu Pierce, Jeremy Christopher Pierce, Emily Pierce Duhe, Taylor Hayes Herty and Alexis Mary Herty. Son of the late Catherine Thesing Pierce and Joseph John Pierce. Brother of the late Antony Joseph Pierce, Francis George Pierce, Joseph Robert Pierce, Marjorie Pierce Sandberg and Mary Pierce. Also survived by many great grandchildren, step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jim graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Chemical Engineering degree and also earned a Masters in Business Administration from Nicholls State University. He worked for Union Carbide for 34 years and retired in 1990. Jim was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He loved providing services to seniors and volunteering in his community. He served as a Poll Commissioner, provided tax help to seniors with the AARP, was a member of the St. Charles Parish Economic Development Council and also served on the Board of Directors and Advisory Council for the St. Charles Parish Council on Aging. Jim enjoyed traveling with the Union Carbide Ever Ready Club, the Busy Bees Senior Group and was a member of the New Orleans A’s Chapter of the Model A Ford Club.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Rd., Destrehan on Friday, December 3, 2021. Visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. Interment in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan, LA.
