The St. Charles Art Guild recently announced it will hold its Fall Art Expo on Wednesday, November 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the New Life Church in Luling, located at 134 Lakewood Drive.
The event will feature two award-winning St. Charles Art Guild artists instructors, Ann Clement and Kerry Allen, who will each be on hand to teach participants various new art skills. Registration fees are $15 per person and are open to the public, ages 16 and up.
“We try to vary the activities from Expo to Expo, so it’s never the same thing twice,” Allen said regarding the Expo’s instruction. “We always change it up, because we get a lot of repeat attendees.”
Local artist Clement plans to demonstrate landscape scene painting techniques using watercolor, while Allen will instruct on using charcoal pencil and charcoal powder for still life drawings.
Seating at the event is limited to 30 participants, with all supplies provided. Participants will be allowed to take home supplies at the conclusion of the event.
Guests at the event are encouraged to bring their own apron or smock to protect clothing. For lunchtime, participants can either bring their own bagged lunch or visit one of the nearby eateries for a take-out lunch during the event.
“We’re trying to encourage people to pick up art as an interest if they’ve never done it or to get back into it if they have been away for a long time, or – if they have been doing it a long time – teach them a new skill that maybe they’re not familiar with,” Allen said.
The St. Charles Art Guild is a 55-year-old local nonprofit organization focused on providing camaraderie among local area budding and professional artists of all ages. The group is supported by the various charitable organizations such as the United Way of St. Charles and the St. Charles Women’s Club, among others.
