Company seeking operators, hiring Friday at Community Center event

Position comes with benefits, pay up to $22/hour

Job-hunters who happen to be mechanically included may wish to circle Friday on their calendar and make their way to Luling.

Railserve will be hosting a hiring event at the Edward Dufresne Community Center (274 Judge Edward Dufresne Pkwy.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The on-site industrial rail service provider is seeking applicants for operator/helper positions, with pay ranging from $19 to $22 an hour.  They are looking to make three hires.

The position is responsible for operating electric, diesel-electric, or gas-turbine-electric locomotives, overseeing the performance of basic mechanical tasks and inspections, throwing railroad switches and mounting and dismounting equipment. Those interested must be willing to work as part of a crew and be willing to work any shift, including nights and weekends, as well as outdoors in all weather types. Other tasks involved include interpreting train orders, signals, and rules and regulations; transporting freight; timely and correct switching and placement of rail cars.

Along with the position comes a benefits package including medical, dental, life, AD&D and disability insurance, as well as 401K and paid vacation.

The company utilizes locomotives and employees to safely move railcars within industrial, manufacturing and production plants. It provides services including in-plant logistics, locomotive service, track maintenance, locomotive sales and leasing and air brakes.
