Four suspects in an armed robbery in Edgard were arrested in St. Charles Parish on May 4 after a 10-hour man hunt, according to authorities.

Errol Harris, 27, and Cory Richardson, 36, were booked with armed robbery while Vincent Beverly, 21, and Doriyah Jordan, 20, were charged with conspiracy.

The suspects were allegedly involved in an armed robbery of the Capital One Bank in Edgard earlier that morning.

Harris and Richardson allegedly entered the bank around noon with black masks and hand guns and took an unknown amount of money. A customer in the bank was forced to the ground by one of the perpetrators, but no one was injured during the robbery.

After the robbery, three of the suspects, excluding Beverly, fled the scene in a grey Dodge car.

St. John deputies followed the car into St. Charles Parish where it crashed on the exit ramp of I-310 in Destrehan at around 12:45.

Once the car crashed, the suspects fled on foot from the vehicle into a wooded area.

Two of the suspects were arrested a couple of hours after the wreck. The final suspect wasn’t captured until 10:50 p.m. when he was seen walking in front of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

He was arrested in the church’s parking lot, according to St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes.

Almost 200 law enforcement officers from St. John the Baptist, St. Charles, Jefferson, Kenner and the State police converged in Destrehan to assist in capturing the suspects. K-9 units and a helicopter were also used in the search.

“The multi-agency man hunt seemed like a very coordinated effort and it proved that it was a worthy effort because of the quick apprehension of these suspects,” said Capt. Dane Clement with the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Harry Hurst Middle, St. Charles Borromeo School and Easy Bank Head Start Center were placed on lockdown initially and then dismissed at their regular time under deputy surveillance.
