St. Charles Catholic students attend March for Life

St. Charles Catholic High School recently sponsored its thirteenth bus trip to the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. This year’s march commemorated the 45th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision. St. Charles Catholic High School was proud to be represented by 20 students.

March for Life is the world’s largest pro-life event, and the students were excited to be a part of the event.

“March for Life was a life changing and faith enriching journey I’ll never forget. It was a great opportunity to learn so much about the gift of life and to speak for those who can’t speak for themselves. I was blessed to share this experience to support the unborn and to grow in my faith in more ways than I ever could have imagined,” said SCC Senior, Jade Brady.

The theme of this year’s march was “Loves Saves Lives.”

Despite the cold temperatures, students gathered at the National Mall for the rally, then marched to the Supreme Court and Congress. St. Charles Catholic High School students also visited the Smithsonian Museums and the National Memorials. The students also attended the Life is Very Good Rally sponsored by the Diocese of Arlington. In addition, the students attended Mass with Archbishop Aymond of New Orleans at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Alexandria, Virginia.

“Because March for Life has taught me important lessons about my faith and allowed me to practice patience (especially with the bus ride) and experience new things, I will never forget this trip. I’ve learned that the pro-life movement isn’t merely about the unborn but about valuing all life, loving and being a voice for those who society has deemed less than. Overall March for Life was a very fun and enjoyable trip,” said SCC Senior Heaven Mamou.

Before departing Washington, D.C., the students visited the breathtaking Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and celebrated a Vigil Mass at the Saint John Paul II National Shrine.

St. Charles Catholic High School’s teacher chaperone, Mrs. Raleigh Poche stated, “The pro-life movement is so much more than an anti-abortion rally. It’s a march for the defense of life for all people regardless of race, age, or religion. I’m so proud of our students on the march and at home for standing up for this right.”
