The Westbank German Coast Farmers’ Market at 1313 Paul Maillard Road in Luling is now accepting SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits. The market is open every Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. SNAP, formerly known as food stamps, is the program where people get assistance to buy basic needs like groceries.
These benefits are calculated based on things such as income and the number of dependents you have. SNAP information will be available at the market’s welcome booth. A market staffer will swipe a SNAP recipient’s EBT card and give tokens equivalent to cash at the market. Tokens have no expiration and can be used later at the market in Luling. They can be spent with any vendor selling SNAP eligible items.
