Dear Editor,
This story should never have appeared in the paper, on TV, or anywhere.
The reason that it did can be traced directly to an ill-advised choice.
Because of that choice, the outcome for all concerned parties was unfavorable.
A frail, elderly woman was traumatized. A policeman was attacked. An animal was shot. A pet-owner was disconsolate.
There are existing laws to ensure that a community can live in harmony.
When people adhere to these laws, and/or when these laws are enforced, everyone’s quality of life improves. Ignoring these laws results in stories like this one.
Decide now to make the right choices, and we’ll see more newspaper space and TV time given to uplifting and truly newsworthy events.
