Officials expect to allow re-entry on Wednesday
EOC Director Tab Troxler says that the parish is experiencing 40 mph sustained winds and has had no flooding on either side of the bank – so far.
There are several power outages, including parts of New Sarpy, Willowridge, St Rose, Luling, all of Bayou Gauche, the Hahnville Courthouse and the St. Charles Parish Hospital.
However, Public Works crews are out in the midst of Gustav, checking on pumping stations, starting generators and keeping a lookout for potential infrastructure problems.
Due to weather conditions, Troxler says that the parish will need all day Tuesday to clear the roads.
