Man accused of dismembering parents was former HHS student

A Baton Rouge man accused of the murder and mutilation of his parents at their Tennessee home grew up in St. Charles Parish and was a former Hahnville High School student.

Joel Michael Guy Jr., 28, was arrested this week and charged with two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of Lisa Guy, 55, and Joel Guy Sr., 61. According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO), both victims suffered “multiple, vicious stab wounds” at the hands of Guy Jr., who then dismembered their bodies. The victims’ remains were reportedly found throughout the home. According to the KCSO, some remains were placed in a homemade acid-based solution in an attempt to dispose of the evidence—a HAZMAT team was required to remove the remains from the home.

A Knox County police spokesman described the crime scene as “gruesome.”

Lisa and Joel Guy Sr. were last seen alive on Friday, Nov. 25. Police believe the victims were murdered sometime in the span between later that night and the next afternoon.

Guy Jr. reportedly gave police no motive but said he had spoken to his parents about money. He was visiting his parents over the Thanksgiving holiday. FBI agents arrested Guy Jr. outside of his Baton Rouge apartment Tuesday. He was listed as a fugitive of Knox County, Tenn.

While Guy Jr. attended Hahnville High School, he graduated from Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts.
