Food bank seeking summer donations and volunteers

DESTREHAN – The Matthew 25:35 food bank at St. Charles United Methodist Church is seeking donations and volunteers for the summer.

The Matthew 25:35 food bank has already served more families with food this year than they did all of 2013. The food bank allows families to pick up food once a month.

With the growth in the number of people being served, the food bank is seeking additional resources of food and funds. The food bank is also seeking volunteers from businesses, churches and the community to help with the food bank.

The organization is also seeking those willing to lead food drives in their community. For those who cannot make it to the church or a food drive, volunteers can be arranged to pick up foods directly from your home.

For more information contact food bank coordinator Mary Anne Schindler at (985) 764-8386 or (985) 764-8292.

The church is located at 1905 Ormond Blvd. in Destrehan.
