The Hahnville Tigers boys and girls track teams put on a show at the Don Raymond Relays on Friday, with each team finishing first in the event to beat out programs from Jesuit, Lutcher, Thomas Jefferson, Higgins and Destrehan.
Tiger Brandon Singleton was the star of the day as he finished in first place in two events. The junior won both the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles with times of 14.3 and 39.3, respectively. Hahnville twins Beau and Bryce Robinson were also impressive for the Hahnville boys, finishing first and second in the 1600 meter run. Beau had the top time of 4:30.9 while Bryce was second with a time of 4:31.6.
The Hahnville 4×200 meter relay team, consisting of Mikquel Chest, Jai Knight, Isaiah Coleman and Devonte Cravin, came in first place with a final time of 1:34.3, while Tigers Justin Bailey and Lamar Foster finished in first and second place, respectively, in the triple jump.
Hahnville’s boys also recorded a first and second place finish in the javelin throw. Evan Barbier won the event with a distance of 166, while Logan Martindale came in second place with a throw of 156-1.
As for the Hahnville girls, Claire Schouest and Sarah Olkerman got their team off on the right foot by finishing first and second in the 3200 meter run. Schouest won with a time of 14:37.2, while Olkerman finished in 14:43.8.
Hahnville’s Breante Byrd finished in the top spot in the 300 meter hurdles, while Jenny Encarnacion finished first in the pole vault.
Harley Morris also brought home a first-place medal for the Tigers by dominating the javelin throw. She finished with a distance of 103-1. The next closest competitor was teammate Jazmine Young, who finished in second with a throw of 96-0.The Destrehan boys also did well at the Don Raymond Relays, with a team finish of third place.
Kirk Merritt and Jayce Brown finished first and second, respectively, in the 100 meter dash. Merritt won with a time of 10.6, while Brown finished with a time of 11.5.
Destrehan’s Kristian Mosley captured the top spot in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.4 while also finishing in first place in the long jump. Destrehan’s 4×100 relay team, which included Brown, Will Matthews, Mosley and Merritt, came in first place with a time of 42.5.
Matthews also finished with the top distance in the shot put, edging out Hahnville’s Hunter Perrin.
Destrehan’s girls finished in fourth place at the event, with Dymond Joseph winning first place in the high jump, Lakeeja Scott winning the shot put and Kayndace Kenner coming out on top in the discus throw.
Hahnville’s boys won the event with a final score of 201. Jesuit High School finished in second place while Destrehan grabbed third with a score of 106.50. Lutcher came in fourth, followed by Thomas Jefferson, Hahnville’s B squad and Higgins High School.
The Hahnville girls won with a score of 179. They were followed by Lutcher, Thomas Jefferson, Destrehan, Higgins and Hahnville’s B squad.
