Shootout in the Superdome

Both Saints, Cardinals have explosive offenses

The greatest season in New Orleans Saints history flips the page on the second chapter when the black and gold will face off against almost a carbon copy of themselves in the Arizona Cardinals.

Saturday afternoon the highest-scoring team in the NFL will face a Cardinal football team that is just coming off the highest-scoring playoff game in NFL history.

The Cardinals defeated the Green Bay Packers 51-45 in overtime Sunday afternoon and advanced into the second round of the playoffs.

We have all seen Saints quarterback Drew Brees perform his magic out on the field and Sunday afternoon we all got to see Kurt Warner play at his very best.

Warner, who is rumored to be retiring after this football season, completed 29 of his 33 passes for 379 yards against the Packers.

The former Arena League and NFL Europe quarterback threw for over 300 yards in a playoff game for the sixth time in his career and that feat has only been done by Peyton Manning and Joe Montana.

Warner threw 5 touchdown passes and he actually threw more touchdown passes than incomplete passes against Green Bay.
With both teams having high-powered passing attacks and two of the best quarterbacks in the business on the same turf expect a shootout in the Dome.

The last three weeks of the regular season the Saints have given up almost 500 yards of rushing and the Cardinals have shown they have some real weaknesses in the secondary over the course of the final weeks of the season and also against Green Bay.

For a region caught up in Saints Fever more than any other time in team history the buildup for this game will only graze the surface of what will happen if the Saints defeat the Cardinals and they get to play in the NFC Championship game the following week.

Get ready because the scoreboard will be lit up quite a bit Saturday afternoon and expect both teams to score in the 30’s.
