Freshman get head start at spring football camp

The Hahnville Tigers completed a two-day mini camp for freshman players to get them acclimated to varsity football.

During the camp, players went over how to line up for stretching, tackling, blocking and other fundamentals.

“We walk through the drills with them and just get them used to everything,” Hahnville head coach Lou Valdin said. “If you don’t do it, they are so far behind when you begin spring practice and it hurts their chances of competing for a starting job.

“A couple of years ago, we had a lot of sophomores start for us, so it’s important.”

Spring practice for the entire varsity squad began on April 28.
