
A Neville offensive surge in the first two innings spelled the end for Hahnville’s season Saturday.
Neville earned an 11-1 victory in the third and decisive game in NHS’ opening round best of 3 series in the Division I non-select playoffs. Neville scored two runs in the first inning but landed the biggest blow of the day in the second inning, posting five runs to take a 7-0 lead. The team earned 13 hits on the day, to three for Hahnville.
Sutton Lewis earned the win for Neville, going 4.1 innings and allowing one run on two hits. He struck out three.
Matthew Bedi took the loss on the mound for Hahnville.
Lewis was the key hitter for Neville, leading off and going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Bradley Hanlon and Nick Kicey each tallied two hits and drove in two runs. Kicey and Lewis each homered in the game.
Talan Theriot led No. 9 seed Hahnville (22-11) at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.
Neville, the No. 24 seed in the bracket, advances to round two where it will face No. 8 Mandeville.
