Sheriff Reports 7-28-2006

Arrests

• Vernon Breaux, 38, of 221 Clement St., New Sarpy, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery at LA 52, Luling, on July 16. • Jarman R. Stewart, 24, of 224 Clement St., New Sarpy, was arrested and charged with 2nd degree aggravated battery at the above address on July 16.
Sheriff Champagne reports that the above subjects were arrested following a verbal altercation with each other.  During the altercation, both subjects struck each other with beer bottles.

• Dennis Hugle, Jr., 30, of 2420 Spain St., New Orleans, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault and simple battery at Nelson Coleman Correctional Center on July 17.  Sheriff Champagne reports that the above subject was arrested on a warrant that was issued on July 10, 2006 for the above charges.  On July 9, Hugle was involved in an altercation with a 21 year old Norco woman.  During the altercation, the subject allegedly punched the victim throughout her body and stabbed her in the back and legs with a kitchen knife.  The subject then allegedly threatened the victim with a gun.

• Michael Borrow, 18, unknown address, was arrested and charged with poss. with intent to dist. marijuana, open container and poss. of alcohol by a minor at 1364 LA 52, Luling, on July 16.  Sheriff Champagne reports that the above subject was stopped for suspicious person.  Further investigation revealed the subject to be in poss. of 58g of marijuana.

• Lawrence Armstrong, 48, of 215 First St., St. Rose, was arrested and charged with poss. of a SCH II CDS to wit cocaine, poss. of a SCH II CDS to wit crack cocaine, poss. of drug paraphernalia and a SCSO attachment in the 100 Blk. of First St., St. Rose, on July 19.  Sheriff Champagne reports that the above subject was stopped for a traffic violation.  Further investigation revealed the subject to be in poss. of cocaine.

•  Daniel White, 17, of 1917 Van Arpel St., LaPlace, was arrested and charged with poss. with intent to dist. marijuana, resisting arrest and battery on a police officer at Eighth St. and E. Hoover St., New Sarpy, on July 19.  Sheriff Champagne reports that the above subject was stopped for suspicious person.  Further investigation revealed the subject to be in poss. of marijuana.  White attempted to flee from officers; after a brief struggle, he was arrested.

• Dorian Kennedy, 25, of 827 Milling Ave., Luling, was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals, dogs on tethers and failure to register a pit bull at the above address on July 15.  Sheriff Champagne reports that the above subject was arrested after officers noticed his pit bull chained to a door knob in 90 degree heat with no food or water.

• Jamaal Jones, 22, of 48 Carriage Ln., Destrehan, was arrested and charged with poss. of cocaine and marijuana at W. Oakland St., St. Rose, on July 18.  Sheriff Champagne reports that the above subject was arrested after being stopped for suspicious person.  Further investigation revealed the subject to be in poss. of narcotics.

• Stephen Rogers, 31, of 57 Mary St., Norco, was arrested and charged with poss. of SCH II CDS to wit Hydrocodone, speeding and driving under suspension at LA 628 & Lewis Ln., Montz, on July 16.  Sheriff Champagne reports that the above subject was stopped for a traffic violation.  Further investigation revealed the subject to be in poss. of hydrocodone.  Rogers was also driving with a suspended license.

DWI

• Michelle Vicknair, 33, of 146 Riverpoint Dr., Destrehan, was arrested and charged with DWI and reckless operation in the 200 Blk. of Schexnaydre Ln., Destrehan, on July 19.

• Travis Joseph Hicks, of 281 Huey P. Long Ave., Gretna, was arrested and charged with DWI and speeding 68 in a 45 at US 61, Norco, on July 20.

• Darrick Matherne, 24, of 5220 Quincy St., Apt 1, Metairie, was arrested and charged with DWI, no turn signal, improper lane usage, and suspended DL at LA 631 & Whitt St., on July 24.

• Gilbert Spray, 43, of 208 Rue Landry, St. Rose, was arrested and charged with DWI, hit and run, careless operation, and suspended DL at the above address on July 22.

Theft

• A boy’s “Chopper” style bike, valued at $198, was reported stolen from 512 Milling Ave., Luling, on July 19.

• A 1987 Chrysler 5th Avenue, valued at $1,000, was reported stolen from 18326 LA 48, Montz, on July 18.

• A reciprocating saw with battery, valued at $150, was reported stolen from 1 Wildcat Ln., Destrehan, on July 20.

• A 12’ Double Bevel Miter Saw, a nail gun, and a weed eater, valued at $842, was reported stolen from 179 Barrios Ln., Des Allemands, on July 21.

• A semi-automatic pistol, valued at $300, was reported stolen from 355 Alice St., Ama, on July 21.

• A Honda 4 wheeler, valued at $8500, was reported stolen from 105 Verdin Ln., Paradis, on July 21.

• 14 Star Wars hard back books, a metal toy sports car, and a wooden sailor clock, valued at $7,300, was reported stolen from 15068 La. 18, Hahnville, on July 21.

• A credit card, a video game, a sub woofer, 2 amplifiers, and a laptop computer, valued at $6,750, was reported stolen from 206 Dunleith Dr., Destrehan, July 22.

• A payroll check, various CD’s, and a car radar, valued at $670, was stolen from a vehicle parked at 635 West B. St., Norco, on July 22.

•  A took bag with misc. tools, a cell phone, and a beeper, valued at $800, was reported stolen from a vehicle at 309 Kennedy St., Ama, on July 22.
