We need to build a peaceful world

One of the world’s most lovable cities, Paris, France, the city of life, took a beating last week when terrorists killed as many as 150 people in several locations including a soccer stadium and concert hall.

The killers apparently were not after anyone who had harmed them in the past and appeared to be  making a statement that the time has come for peace and freedom in the world to end. That is the only way sensible people can interpret the violent events happening since then.

Back in the 1920’s and 1940’s, we were confronted with World Wars I and II, which threatened to take life and destroy the way the world has lived. Our enemies wanted to do this by ruling other countries on the planet. Fortunately, they did not succeed.

We are still here and at the present time we may have even better prospects for our future. We base that conclusion on the fact that even the explosion of atomic bombs during World War II was not the beginning of the end for the human race.

So what’s next? Apparently Isis, the killers in Paris last week, are not coming to a stopping point in spite of the fact that France replied effectively with an aerial visit by its bombers in reply to the Isis home base in Syria. And in the end, it appears our allies have the leading edge in fire power.

President Barack Obama keeps saying he has the solution to any threats that may come our way from Isis or any other enemy that could threaten the free world. But he does not say exactly what it is. He keeps using the word containment which could not be a complete solution since containment of an enemy requires a country to contain itself from aggression in order for it to work. And Isis does appear to be ready for bargaining away its fight to the death attitude.

In fact, Isis and other terrorist organizations almost certainly are not ready to give way to an enemy no matter what the consequences may be. They seem to be ready to live up to their definitions as suicide squads.

So any containment as such of Isis is certainly not likely to occur. And since Isis has already stated it will attack the U. S. in the future, that brings up the likelihood that the only way to maintain our peaceful freedom is to prepare for the likelihood of war which more than likely would have us on the winning side.

So the attitude of our government should be, among other things, preparation for future attacks on our home land which Isis has already promised. We need to gather strength around the world by joining with other countries with peaceful intent for defense measures that will keep us free from attack by Isis and other terrorists.

There are enough freedom loving countries in the world that can join together and protect one another as we did in the two world wars and other skirmishes we have been in and emerged victorious. We need to unite with them and make plans to build a world that can live in peace and freedom in the future.
