Southeast Louisiana has a great future

The future of southeast Louisiana seems exceedingly bright except for one possible problem – growing pains, according to an article in the New Orleans Advocate by Jaquetta White.

We could imagine much worse problems and are willing to accept what lies ahead. Unless, of course, we want to remain a backwoods community of our nation so we can enjoy the great outdoors and not be disturbed by too many people bugging about.

But let’s face it, that doesn’t help our living standards.We have adapted ourselves to a certain standard of life that helps most of our citizens raise their children and live their lives in a comfortable atmosphere. According to the prognosis of many, that way of life will only continue here and increase as the years proceed.

The reasons for such growth are, first of all, our location at the mouth of the river that provides the greatest asset to worldwide transportation that can help countries from around the world access customers and markets with ease. Also, the fact that we are located in a rich part of our planet that produces some of the natural resources most needed by the people.

Look at the great attractions in our area, including the Gulf of Mexico, which harbors one of the greatest collections of fish that sportsmen love to eat and land-based wildlife that makes us an all-around sportsman’s paradise. Then there is the spirit of the people who enjoy life, live it to its fullest and invite newcomers to the area for Mardi Gras and other festivals to enjoy it as well.

Southeast Louisiana certainly has one of the brightest-looking futures of any other segment of our country. And it’s down here in the deep south where the temperatures seldom go below the dreaded figures that, after the past few months, have been deplored by northern countrymen.

So we may have growing pains ahead, but that certainly is better than going backward. Southeast Louisiana obviously is moving ahead and ready to bring its spirit and resources to benefit the world.

Let us look forward to the future which looks bright indeed.
