For many years, Dottie Landry served as office manager of this publishing company.
She always arrived early and started the day by making a pot of coffee that helped put our thinking processes to work.
And she left many times after the last person had gone. Her hours during the day were filled with work, some conversation and a lot more work.
She was outspoken, saying what she thought were the right and wrong things to do as the workday progressed. And she was usually right.
She was the center of activity. She handled the books. Staff members went to her when they had a problem. And she was ready to help them find a solution.
Dottie did not hesitate to give her opinion about what was going on in the community. In fact, many ideas expressed in these column emanated from her thoughts.
Dorothy Landry died Friday after 85 years of a very active life. She made a difference in this publishing company. And in this community.
We are happy to have had her aboard.
Dottie is survived by two sons, Richard Landry and companion, Paulette Lawson, and Robert Landry and wife Karen. One daughter Carol Landry Krejci and husband David. One sister Emily Weightman.
Eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert Caddell and Elsie Leonard Caddell, one brother Tom Leonard, and one sister; Elsie Duffin.
