Democracy prevails in election Tuesday

It’s the economy, stupid. We hope that’s the outlook of President Barack Obama after the Republicans gained a majority in the House and almost in the Senate Tuesday.

It takes a strong private sector to produce a good economy that will satisfy voters. And that won’t be accomplished by increasing taxes on the people who hire employees to run their businesses which Obama wants to do. Nor will it be done with stimulus measures that have done little to stir the economy and have steered us to a serious deficit in our national treasury.

Hopefully, the President will change his tune and turn his attention to helping the many small businesses to halt the recession by keeping all of the Bush tax cuts that will allow them to expand. This will benefit most of the working people in our country.

There are some problems in our health care system but it does not need Obama’s new legislation that will steer close to socialized medicine. Corrections are in order but they can be made without increasing the bureaucracy that threatens to waste even more of our tax dollars and medical expenses.

Hopefully, a new Congress will be able to repeal Obamacare and put in the reforms that will allow health care professionals to run the system without too much money-wasting interference from Washington.

We trust that the President will see the handwriting on the wall and follow the will of the people. That is what democracy is all about.
