DEMPSTER

Bertha Breaux Dempster, on Sunday, Aug. 12 at Thibodaux. Beloved wife of the late Dennis Dempster. Mother of Darren Dempster and his wife Jane, Barry Dempster and his wife Christine, Brent Dempster, Michael Dempster and his wife Jaimie, Darlene Dempster, Darnell Gaubert and her husband Troy, Delssey Gaubert and her husband Ray and the late Dennis Dempster, Jr. Daughter of the late Alex and Adeline Dufrene Breaux. Sister of Gene Breaux and Theresa Waguespack. Also survived by nine grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. A native and resident of Des Allemands. Age 66. Relative and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands on Friday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. Interment at Sunset Cemetery in Bayou Gauche. Visitation from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday from 9 a.m. to until funeral time Aug. 17 at St. Gerturde Catholic Church. Falgout Funeral Homes in charge of arrangemetns.

FERRARO

Dorothy Laiche Ferraro, resident of Norco, died on Friday, Aug. 2 in Luling. She was 75 and a native of Reserve. She is survived by one son, Nicholas “Nicky” Ferraro; seven daughters: Judy Hebert, Verna Cambre, Gail Roussel, Bonnie Comardelle, Mary Ann Champagne, Virgina Zeringue, Anna Ferraro and Laura Hebert; three brothers: Irvin Laiche, Murphy Laiche and Morrie Laiche and Virginie Matherne Laiche; one brother; one sister; and two grandchildren: Keith Ferraro and Nicholas Champagne. Visiting at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco was held on Aug. 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumed at the funeral home on Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial was at noon on Monday, Aug. 6 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Norco. Entombment was at St. John Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in LaPlace. H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco in charge of arrangements.

HARRIS

Infant Jamie Paul Harris, Jr. on Sunday Aug. 5 in Metairie. Survived by parents Jamie Paul Harris Sr. and Kimberly Marie Trahan; grandparents, John Gleen Rowell and Brenda Trahan; also survived by numerous other family members. A graveside service was held on Friday, Aug. 10 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in St. Rose. H.C. Alexander Funeral Home of Norco in charge of arrangements.

HAYNES

Betty Jane Haynes, a homemaker and a resident of Donaldsonville died at 4:42 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7 in Gonzales. She was 76 and a native of Belle Alliance. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville was on Aug. 9 from 8:30 a.m. until the religious service at 10:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Phil Spano. Interment was at the church cemetery. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Ronnie Williams of survived by three daughters and cons-in-law, Theresa and Ronnie Williams of Donaldsville, Dawn and Ray Renflow of Beaumont, Texas, and Shelia and Neal Hendrix of Cotton Plant, Arkansas; two sons, Charles “Coonie” Haynes and Dennis Haynes, both of Donaldsonville; four sisters, Aggie Friloux of Ama, Eva Friloux of Boutte, Shirley Gaubert of Luling and Catherine Breaux of Belle River; four brothers, Jimmy Haynes of Donaldsonville, Joe Haynes of Breaux Bridge, and Dale Haynes Sr. and Dave Haynes Sr. both of Donaldsonville; 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her parents, Alvis and Agnes Ruiz Haynes; daughter, Deborah Haynes and brother, George Haynes.

HYMEL

Chad Michael Hymel, 39, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007 from injuries sustained in a car accident in Costa Rica. Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 10 at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Pearland, Texas. Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the funeral mass immediately following. Chad was born in New Orleans and raised in Luling, LA, Dallas, Corpus Christi and Friendswood, Texas. Preceding his death he split his time between Ocochal, Costa Rica and Bayou Vista, Texas. Chad was a graduate of Clear Creek High School in 1987 and went on to play football for Tyler Junior College and San Jose State. This is where his athletic and leadership abilities were developed. He was co-founder of Q-air Freight Forwarding and co-owner of villas el Bosque in Ocochal , Costa Rica. Survivors include: Parents, Mary Flannagan and Hardy Edmiston of Lafayette, LA; Darryl and Judi Hymel of Friendswood, Texas; brothers, Scott Hymel of Fort Worth, Texas; David Wagester and wife Deanna of Huntington Beach, CA; Steven Edmiston of Lafayette and David Edmiston and wife Gema of Houston, Texas: sisters, Nancy Schuler of Lafayette, and Susan Guidry and husband Bill of Houston, Texas; Grandparents, Mary Etta Flannagan of Avinger, Texas; Tom Thompson of Canyon Lake, California; Aunts, Martha Riseden and husband Jay of Avinger, Texas; Dee Flannagan of Orlando, Florida; Myrna and Debbie Hymel and Gail Bosco and husband Joe of Luling; and Kathy Thompson of Canyon Lake, California; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Chad was preceded in death by his son, Cade Michael Hymel; his brother Craig Wagester; grandparents, Maude and Norman Hymel; grandfather Earl P. Flannagan, grandmother Fran Thompson and uncle George Thomas Flannagan. Pallbearers will be Darryl Hymel, Scott Hymel, David Wagester, Steven and David Edmiston, Jeno Bosco, and Jamie Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be all the people whose life chad touched. Chad lived his 39 years to the fullest in every way. He was a devoted son, brother, lover of life and a truly charismatic individual. He loved his many friends, especially children and the less fortunate. He gave immensely of himself and his many talents to help others. He never sought the limelight, yet drew it nonetheless because of his kindness. His heart was a big as his 6’2″ frame and he followed his dreams, achieved them, and dreamt more to make his life and others more enriched. He was a wise and unique soul for his young years. Chad claimed all the gusto life offers and will be missed by all. In 2003 Chad moved to his beloved Costa Rica where he made another world of friends and lived his life in a setting of tranquil beauty overlooking the mountains, rain forest, and Pacific Ocean. To honor his memory, a fund has been established to assist underprivileged children both in the United States and Costa Rica. LANGLEY

Hershel Langley passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 1 at Ochsner Foundation Hospital at the age of 70. He is survived by his wife, Betty C. Langley; a daughter and son-in-law, Shawn and William “Sonny” Tauton; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Suzette Langley; seven grandchildren, Alexandra Tauton, Caroline Tauton, Ethan Tauton, Isabella Langley, Hudson Tauton, Luke Taunton and Preston Langley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ortman Langley Sr. and Lucy Ledet Langley, a brother Ortman Landley Jr.; and a sister Juanita Pemberton. He was a native of Norco and a resident of Luling. A praivate memorial service was held on Aug. 9 at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home of Norco.

SCIONEAUX

Betty LeBLanc Scioneaux died on Tuesday, Aug. 7 in LaPlace. Wife of the late Edwin “Shot” Scioneaux. Daughter of the late Robert LeBlanc Sr. and Mae Jacob LeBlanc. Mother of Perry Scioneaux and wife Kim Scioneaux, Adeline Scioneaux, Janet Villeret and husband Al Villeret and Karen LeBlanc and husband Lee LeBlanc; sister of Albert LeBlanc; grandmother of Donnie Donely, Jared Villeret, P.J. Scioneaux, Megan Scioneaux, Coy LeBlanc, Curry LeBlanc, Ciji LeBlanc and the late Brynn Scioneaux; great-grandmother of Ty Donley and haley Scioneaux. Age 81. A native and resident of Reserve. She was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church in Reserve. A private service will be held at a later date. Alexander Funeral Home of Lutcher in charge of arrangements.
