Lidia Ramona Sheppard, a resident of Luling of over 40 years was called home on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
Visitation was held at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 13635 Old Spanish Trail, Boutte, Louisiana on Saturday, March 23 from 9:00 am until funeral time. Pastor Clyde J. Staes officiated. Interment followed at Mt. Airy Memorial Park Cemetery. Services entrusted to Jones Memorial Funeral Home.
Lidia Ramona Sheppard was born on October 18, 1943 in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. Her parents were the late Melida and Victor Gomez. Lidia’s childhood was richly woven within the embrace of her dear grandmother, caring aunties, uncles, and cousins, all nestled in the heart of her cherished barrio. On December 19, 1967 she wedded Samuel Sheppard in holy matrimony, marking the beginning of a sacred union that endured for over four decades. Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her children: Samuel Sheppard IV, Victor Sheppard, Americo Sheppard, Ricardo Sheppard, and Mariana Sheppard; 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lidia is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Cyrus Sheppard-Stephens, Jr.
