Kayleigh Michelle Billings, born Feb. 5, 1991 in Baton Rouge, La., transcended our physical realm on Aug. 15, 2015.
Billings grew up in Arizona and graduated in 2009 from Destrehan High School.
In 2014, she received her bachelor’s degree in music education and music performance – Oboe, from Louisiana State University. She was a four-year member of the LSU Tiger Marching Band and performed in the LSU Wind Ensemble and Orchestra.
She recently moved to Houston and started her dream job as the orchestra director for Spring Woods Middle School. Billings’ devotion to everyone she loved continues to inspire her surviving family; her mother Stacy Toal; father Curt Billings, sister Catie Toal, brothers Alex Billings and Nick Billings, step-parents Jessica Billings and David Toal, grandparents Mary-Ann and John Billings, Mary-Sharon and Alan Howland, Janice and David Lasseigne, uncles John Billings, Ed Billings, and David Lasseigne, aunt Aimee Lasseigne and most loving and closest friend, Brooks Cowan.
She will be remembered for her free spirit, kind heart and amazing yet outrageous sense of humor. She was a champion for the underdog helping both people and animals in need; her words, actions and smile revealed a deeply empathetic and compassionate soul. Billings’ many talents, intelligence, love, and beauty will continue to resonate because her light is not out, it lives within everyone who loves her. Always.
