Expanding the reach of care it can provide its patients was the catalyst for Ochsner’s recent acquisition of MHM (Millennium Health Management) Urgent Care, which includes an office in Luling.
Ochsner acquired MHM in January and officially announced it was rebranding MHM Urgent Care to Ochsner Urgent Care.
“Helping our patients navigate getting the right care at the right place is a major focus for our team,” said Diedra Dias, vice president of Urgent Care and Occupational Health Services for Ochsner. “Expanding our urgent care offering at Ochsner helps us provide the most appropriate care for our patients when they need us.”
Dias noted each urgent care clinic offers walk-in service with no appointment necessary. Other benefits the urgent care clinic provides include extended hours: all sites are open seven days a week. She added each patient can expect to receive timely care and “typically get in and out in under an hour.”
She said the addition of MHM allows Ochsner to offer a full host of integrated, pre-acute, non-emergency room offerings throughout the Greater New Orleans area, including in St. Charles Parish. According to Becker’s Healthcare Review, the number of urgent care facilities is expected to increase 5.8 percent each year through 2018 to meet growing patient demand.
Patients will receive care from Ochsner physicians at each clinic, though a number of the same doctors working at MHM previously will remain there after having transitioned to Ochsner.
Electronic medical records of patients, which will be upgraded. Ochsner will use “Epic” software that will allow the clinic to coordinate patient records throughout Ochsner’s facilities.
“This transition will allow patient information to be securely accessed by all Ochsner providers, meaning that, no matter which Ochsner facility a patient chooses to access, the medical staff at that facility will have full access to the patient’s medical record, ensuring the highest quality of care,” Dias said.
