Luling talk show draws 89,000 listeners from around the world

Skyrocketing from 500 to 89,000 subscribers worldwide in nearly seven months, Shawn Boutwell’s conservative talk show is resonating with people worldwide.

Boutwell is on the cutting edge of digital media with impressive reach on a global scale – all from his Luling home.

“People want to have more control over what they see and hear because they have learned they can not trust the mainstream media and the entertainment industry,” Boutwell said. “Regular TV has become so vile.”

WDN Live is his daily show airing Monday through Friday at 6 p.m. on YouTube and his Sunday program, called Made Live, which also airs at 6 p.m., is a Christian show where he reads through books of the Bible verse by verse.

The show is syndicated around the world by shortwave radio and online venues on KVOH Americas and KVOH Africa, which reaches many places in the world that don’t have access to the Internet. His subscribers are from Africa, Switzerland and even China, as well as nearly every state in the nation.

“My political views have drawn the whole audience,” he said. “Political views is why they are there.”

Boutwell doesn’t mince words about his political views on his show and listeners can call in to respond, which is another growing desire by many people who want interactive programs.

“We’re two years from possibly socialism overtaking the country and the lines are being drawn,” he said. “I believe we’re on the cusp of something horrible happening in this country. Are we going to sit around and let it happen or do something about it?”

Convinced that socialism is the great evil of the world, Boutwell said he feels God called him to start the digital show to lead the way on making change.

“Socialism takes; capitalism makes or creates,” he said.

Boutwell unabashedly states his YouTube channel is aimed at enlarging his position as a teacher, pastor, writer and activist.

“God has given me a platform to reach the entire world,” he said. “I believe that socialism is in direct conflict with Christianity. They can’t even exist in the same place.”

Boutwell attended Bible College and fulfilled his long desire to become a pastor, as well as still take care of his wife and four children. He was ordained by the Voice of Hope Ministries in California, which is part of Strategic Communications, a Christian communications company that distributes the Voice of Hope program.

Calling himself a pastor with a digital church, this is what he does fulltime. He’s also a writer of nonfiction novels, a musician, film producer and voiceover artist. He started his channel reading novels, as well as his own novel, “Moon in the Mist – Sleep Swimming,” and it grew into a talk show.

Boutwell actually left St. Charles Parish when he was 18 years old determined to never return, but nearly 30 years later he changed his mind.

“I fell in love with the South in the North,” he said. He’d lived in Boston for seven years and then went to Oregon for 22 years until his wife suggested they move to St. Charles Parish.

In that time, Boutwell decided to start his talk show and started what he feels is becoming a movement.

“We call it ‘The great awakening’ with a worldwide movement of millions of people all over the world,” he said. “At no time in history have people been more aware of the wrongdoings of government and the crimes perpetrated against people. The bottom line is for the first time in history, we have a president tackling these crucial issues that we feel so strongly about.”

Boutwell is talking about President Donald Trump.

He insists Trump is a “true American” and not part of the “cabal” dedicated to advancing socialism.

“I plan on whatever God has in store so I’m going to just keep doing this,” Boutwell said. “If God wants it to grow, it’ll grow. My job is to minister to the people’s needs, not to preach to their needs.”
