An 88-year-old man was killed in a crash near the intersection of Highway 90 and Carlon Drive in Des Allemands Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
According to State Police, Alfred Tregre, of Des Allemands, was driving a 2007 Honda Accord and was stopped on Carlon Drive. The Honda entered the intersection in an attempt to turn east on Highway 90 and was struck on the driver’s side by a 2014 Ford Mustang driven by 18-year-old Christian Sontoyo, of Raceland.
Tregre was pronounced dead on the scene and Sontoyo, along with an 11-year-old passenger in his vehicle, were both transported to St. Charles Parish Hospital with minor injuries.
Tregre’s passenger, 81-year-old Fannie Tregre, was transported to Ochsner’s main campus with moderate injuries.
According to State Police, all occupants were wearing seat belts during the crash. Impairment is not suspected and the crash remains under investigation.
