13 Luling vehicles broken into Tuesday night

Deputies are scouring the Willowdale neighborhood in Luling in response to 13 vehicle break-ins that occurred last night.

The crimes are currently under investigation by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, who is asking residents in the area to call 911 if they saw anything suspicious last night. Capt. Pat Yoes, spokesman with the Sheriff’s Office, said it appears the thieves were walking through the neighborhood and looking for vehicles that had valuables left inside. He did not yet know if the cars that were broken into were unlocked at the time.

St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne has said in the past that almost every vehicle break-in occurs when a vehicle is left unlocked.

For years, he has urged residents to lock their vehicle doors to help prevent the crimes from occurring.
