Parishioners are on bended knee, walking the aisle and tying the knot. Can you hear the wedding bells ringing? We can!

Peraza – Huff
Mr. and Mrs. Gustave John Huff Jr. proudly announce the engagement of their daughter, Angela Marie Huff to Seth Alexander Peraza.

Angela’s parents, “Johnny” and Kathy Martin Huff, formerly of St. Bernard Parish, have been homeowners in St. Charles Parish since Katrina.

Angela is the granddaughter of Joyce Martin, the late Harvey J. Martin, the late Gustave J. Huff Sr., and the late Dorothy Collums.

Seth is the son of Alberto Peraza of Slidell and Diane Delahoussaye of Petaluma, Calif. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jose Peraza of Slidell.

Angela is a lieutenant with 911 Communications in St. Bernard Parish. She graduated from Archbishop Hannan High School. Seth is a patrol officer for St. Bernard Parish. Seth attended Andrew Jackson High School. They met during the Hurricane Katrina aftermath while both remained serving St. Bernard Parish.

Angela and Seth will celebrate their marriage in late February at Champagne Palace in Harahan. After a honeymoon to the Bahamas the couple will reside in St. Bernard.

Callan – Borne
Katie Jo Callan of Kenner and Heath F. Borne of New Sarpy will exchange vows on Feb. 16 at La Maison Magnolia in Norco.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Fred and Connie Valentine and Joe and Cathy Callan of Nebraska.

The groom is the son of Robert and Laura Whann of New Sarpy and Keith Borne of Norco.

Katie is a 1999 graduate of Adams Central High School in Nebraska. She has also received a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Iowas State University and a masters in social work from Tulane Unversity.

She is currently employed at the Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority Children’s Clinic in Marrero.

Heath is a 1995 graduate of Destrehan High School. He also received a bachelor’s in social work from Southeastern Louisiana University and a masters in social work from Tulane University.

He is currently employed at the Jefferson Parish Human Services Authority School Therapeutic Enhancement Program in Marrero.

Lawton – Knight
Kelli Leigh Lawton of Zachary, LA and Jonathan Eric Knight of Zachary will marry on March 15 at Stage One in Baton Rouge, LA at 7:30 p.m.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Doug and Pam Lawton of Ethel.

She is the granddaughter of Bob & Barbara Lawton of Slaughter, Elton and Joy Messer of Prairieville, and the late Virginia “Jenny” Messer.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Zachary High School in Zachary. She is a volunteer at Zachary Fire Department and she is employed as a receptionist at Louisiana Ear, Nose, & Throat in Zachary.

Her Fiancé is the son of Steve and Pam Knight of Luling. He is the grandson of Laverne Knight of Slaughter, the late Everett Knight, and Vivian Whittington of St. Francisville and the late Curtis “Buck” Whittington.

He is a graduate of Hahnville High School in Boutte and is employed as a Firefighter at Zachary Fire Department.

Stiger – Sorapuru
Angela Nicole Stiger and Leonard Martin Sorapuru III were united in marriage at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007 at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Rev. Charles E. Goodman, Jr. officiated.

Angela is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl B. Stiger, Jr. of Martinez. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Lessie Mae Shaw of Jacksonville, N.C., the late Mr. Dayton Lewis of Long, S.C., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl B. Stiger, Sr. of Hopkinsville, Ky.

She will receive an associates of science in business management from Georgia Military College in June of 2008. Angela has an Appraiser III Certification from the Department of Georgia Revenue. She is employed by the Columbia County Tax Assessor’s Office in Evans as a Personal Property Appraiser III.

Leonard is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard M. Sorapuru, Jr. of Luling. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Norman Borne of Edgard. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard M. Sorapuru, Sr. of Lucy.

He earned a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Leonard is employed by Monsanto Company in Augusta, Ga. as a chemical engineer.

Given in marriage by her father, Angela chose her cousin, Ms. Takiyah Kelly of Jacksonville, N.C., and her sister, Mrs. Tracy Winters of Atlanta, to serve as maid and matron of honor, respectively.

Leonard chose his father to serve as best man.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Gordon Club in Fort Gordon. The newlyweds honeymooned in the Hawaiian Islands and reside in Grovetown, Ga.

Harmon – Dampier
Stacy J. Harmon and Derek A. “Doc” Dampier were married on Oct. 13, 2007 in the courtyard of the Bourbon Orleans Hotel, New Orleans.

Minister Donnie Cross officiated. A reception was held in the Grand Ball Room of the Bourbon Orleans.

The bride is the daughter of Mark and Aleta Harmon of Luling.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Wandling of Luling, and the late John T. Harmon and the late Betty Hays of Luling.

The groom is the son of David and Debbie G. Dampier of Belle Chasse.

He is the grandson of Charles and Claudette Dampier of Belle Chasse and W. F. George and the late Ruth S. George of Hahnville.

Following a honeymoon to the Riviera Maya in Mexico, Doc & Stacy will reside in Luling.

Denoux – Schmidt
Mr. and Mrs. Michael T. Denoux of Norco announce the marriage of their daughter, Candice Marie to Mr. Gil Schmidt, III, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Gil Schmidt, Jr. of Destrehan. The ceremony took place on Nov. 23, 2007 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Destrehan with a reception immediately following at Ormond Plantation.

The bride, whose mother is the former Olivia Schexnaydre, is a 2001 graduate of Destrehan High School and a 2005 graduate of Nicholls State University where she graduated with a degree in mass communications with an emphasis in broadcast journalism.

She recently completed her Alternative Certification in Secondary English Education. The bride currently teaches English at Destrehan High School.

She is the granddaughter of Merlene Poche Schexnaydre and the late Herman “Puney” Schexnaydre of New Sarpy and the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald “Skipper” Denoux of Norco.

The bridegroom, whose mother is the former Mary Gautreaux, is a 1999 graduate of Destrehan High School and is currently pursuing a degree in process technology at Louisiana Technical College in Reserve.

He is employed at Marathon Petroleum Company in Garyville as a process operator. Gil is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gautreaux, Sr. of Destrehan and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Schmidt of Metairie.

The couple, who honeymooned at the Ceasars Pocono Resorts in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, will reside in Destrehan.

Laque
On Dec. 14, 2007 former Parish President Albert Laque and his wife Dorothy Clement Laque celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

A surprise party was throen for them by their children and grandchildren: Jeff, Terry, Bert with children Amanda, Kristen and Jared.
