LaWanna Davis named high school counselor of the year

The Destrehan High School community would like to congratulate LaWanna Davis for being named Louisiana High School Counselor of the Year by the Louisiana School Counseling Association at the recent Louisiana Counseling Association Conference in Baton Rouge.

The LSCA is the largest division of the Louisiana Counseling Association and an affiliate of the American Counseling Association.

This award recognizes school counselors who have made innovations in guidance and counseling programs, provided leadership in the further development of existing guidance services, demonstrated leadership in professional counseling associations, and have performed an outstanding service to the school and/or community.

Davis has exemplified these goals with her hard work and dedication to the DHS freshman community.

This is her twelfth year at DHS, and her sixteenth as an educator. DHS is lucky to have an employee like Davis, the Louisiana High School Counselor of the Year.
