Nicholas Sparks’s novel “The Lucky One” takes place in the quiet town of Hampton, N.C., in the year 2008 when former U.S. marine Logan Thibault finally finds the woman he has been searching for during much of his life. This story reveals the passionate yet suspenseful love affair between Thibault and the woman of his dreams.
During his third tour of Iraq, Logan Thibault runs across a photograph of a beautiful young woman in the sand. After failing to find the owner of the photo, he puts it away in his pocket.
As time goes on, he notices a trend of luck in his everyday life. The only explanation is offered by his best friend, Victor, who suggests that the photograph is a good luck charm.
Years later, seeking to find Elizabeth, the girl in the picture, Thibault embarks on a cross-country journey. When he finds himself working for her in a dog kennel, they begin to develop a strong connection, leaving him in no place to explain the story of the photograph. As their relationship develops, Logan begins to understand his destiny in Hampton while his secret threatens to tear their lives apart.
“The Lucky One” pulled me in from page one. Sparks’ intricate characters and delicate romance made this an enjoyable read while keeping the pages turning with a touch of suspense. I would recommend this book to any Nicholas Sparks fans and anyone interested in a beautiful and captivating love story.
