Beta Club winner qualifies for nationals

Here is a picture of Fischer proudly displaying her first ISBN number. She self-published her first novel (a non-licensed novelisation of her favorite Dr Who episode as her first and second quarter projects for Autonomous Learner (a course for 9th grade gifted students at HHS). She spent one quarter writing and one navigating the publishing side of the project.  She is also in talented art and designed the novel cover art.

Martalisa Fischer will be representing St. Charles Parish Schools as the only Senior High Beta Club member in the parish to qualify to compete at the National Beta Club convention in Oklahoma City, Okla., this June. She has already received many awards for her writing at the school, parish and state level, but this will be her first opportunity to compete on the national level.

Fischer qualified to compete in the Poetry Division I competition, which entails them receiving a prompt at the competition and having a limited amount of time to compose an original poem. Writing is her passion and her dream profession.
