All Kinds of Finds by Karen is celebrating its five year anniversary this Saturday – and along with it, the customers who have made it possible.
The Luling store that helps its visitors create a totally customized style for their homes and workplaces through use of color, fabric and furniture selections will celebrate with both longtime and new customers from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For owner and store namesake Karen Guillot, the event is a way to say thank you to a community that’s helped her business establish itself and thrive.
“We want to celebrate and show appreciation for our customers who have shopped with us and made this possible,” Guillot said. “In a small town, that says a lot.”
Those who make their way to the store will be introduced to two brand new product lines: Element Tree Essential candles and Chocollage Chocolates – just in time for Valentine’s Day, Guillot notes. They may even take a few items home completely free of charge, as there will be a raffle drawing at the end of the day where some lucky customers will get to bring home some special prizes.
The candles, in particular, are unique in that they melt into a moisturizing body lotion.
“I used some yesterday … it’s really cool,” Guillot said. “You blow the candle out, then the melted wax becomes a lotion. I used some yesterday and I could smell it and feel it all night. It’s very nice.”
As for the chocolate: it’s that time of year.
“With Valentine’s and Easter coming up, we felt like we could have some chocolate here,” Guillot said.
There will be special discounts and offers for the occasion. One of the store’s five-year anniversary specials includes double loyalty points – two points on any storewide purchase of $50 or more. Also, with each $50 purchase, a customer will receive one free quart or 3-4 ounce jar of chalk paint, while inventory lasts.
Visitors will also find a healthy meal: vegan Caesar salad, chickpea tuna salad, minestrone soup, black bean chili and banana bread is on the menu as selected by Guillot, who is also a nurse. Refreshments will also be on hand.
In terms of larger projects, cabinetry, front doors and furniture are where these painting experts shine. With cabinetry, it’s a natural choice for updating the look while keeping quality, Guillot says. She’s painted on everything from a grandfather clock to dressers to desks, and some of them are repurposed. She assists many customers on route to their DIY jobs, but Guillot will also tackle it herself, along with her team if one would like her expert touch.
Guillot said the Jolie brand paint line her team uses and store carries has made it fun and easy to customize paint jobs and keep up with the hottest trends by doing so.
“(Jolie) is so user friendly. You can finish a project in a day,” Guillot said. “It’s such a high quality product.”
It fits the overall theme of the store: while all the products and services can’t be grouped into one box, everything comes with Guillot’s first-hand approval.
“We believe in our products,” she said. “We use the products because we believe them to be high quality.”
