Writer misread letter on video bingo

To the Editor:
I think John Landry (letter November 15) either misread or didn’t understand what I said in my letter to Barry Minnich when I stated that John doesn’t pay any sales tax on the rental income from his building.

I said nothing about income tax. I did not accuse him of fraud. I only mentioned the sales tax to inform Barry that this income did not help  in any way to pay for all the services we get from sales tax.

The local sales tax office agrees with my statement. He is not required to pay sales tax on rental income. Neither is anyone else who rents real estate. That includes RV parks, apartment buildings , car washes, etc.

If John wants to do the right thing , he will retract his statement that what I said was ridiculous and apologize for making me look ignorant.

The last thing I have to say on the video bingo subject is that the council has better things to do than try to legislate public morality. And when they mention way of life and too much gambling and safety of children and addiction. it does appear that morality was the main concern.

See you in court.
