Bingo parlor owner calls letter ridiculous

To the Editor:
Normally, I never respond to people making untrue statements about me, my wife, or our business. But last weeks letter to the editor from Mr. C. Martin was so ridiculous I had to respond.

Yes I collect about $10,000 a month rental from organizations that rent from us, he is right about that. But where did he get the idea we pay no taxes?  I am not sure where he got his information, and without disrespect to Mr. Martin, he is so very wrong.

Not only do I pay taxes from that rental income, but I pay about $5,000 a month for all Utilities, $2500.00 month for insurance, and still have a mortgage note with the bank.
We love St. Charles Parish, we love our business and certainly care a whole lot for our customers. We think of our customers as our family and selfishly don’t want to share them with anyone else. They range from 12 years old to 98 years young, we are proud to call them our customers.

There is a lot more to the Video Bingo story than I care to get into, and certainly, by Mr. Martin’s comments, he does not know the whole story. And we DO NOT have video bingo at the St Charles Room.

In closing, I rent my hall to charities like Lions clubs, booster clubs, and service organizations; we offer great food, a clean, safe place with parking and security from St Charles Parish Sheriffs office.  And yes I pay my taxes, no tax breaks here, check with my CPA, Mr. Clyde Trevathan of Luling.

Juanita and I want to wish everyone who reads this article along with Mr. C. Martin and his family the very best holiday season, and we hope you stop by and play bingo to support our local charities.
