The 27th Annual National Night Out Against Crime took place on August 3 with over 20 parish residents holding parties.
Homeowners, apartment dwellers and businesses locked their doors from 6-9 p.m., turned on their outside lights for security and spent the evening with their neighbors demonstrating solidarity against crime.
Patrolling deputies visited registered parties and children were given a first-hand look at the inside of a police cruiser.
The main goal of the event is to get people to meet their neighbors and local law enforcement officials. The local event was sponsored by Sheriff Greg Champagne in conjunction with the Sheriff’s Office.
