755 inform parish of whereabouts

Area still has power

About 755 people contacted the parish’s Emergency Operations Center last night to inform them that they would be riding out the storm from their homes.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office went-door-to-door yesterday and last night to locate those who chose to stay behind. Sheriff’s officials then patrolled the streets until conditions became unsafe.

Champage says that those residents that remained behind complied with the parish curfew and that his department had an ‘overwhelming’ presence in neighborhoods.

‘While we cannot guarantee that some incidents of theft or break-ins may occur, you can feel secure as far as your homes and property are concern,’ he said.
