Have you had enough of income tax frustrations? It seems to be a very unfair way of financing the government.
Many people find ways of paying very little though they can afford to pay a lot. And some don’t pay at all.
It is entirely too complicated for the average citizen to understand. And shouldn’t the laws of our country be simple enough so everyone can abide by them?
A flat tax would present its problems, too. It could exempt so much income a year for each individual and then tax everyone on the same percentage rate for the balance. But taxable incomes would still have to be figured and therein is where the major problem lies.
Another proposal has been a national sales tax. This would be the simplest to pay because the ordinary individual would hot have to figure out anything. Since the rich spend the most, they would end up paying more than the poor. And businesses would pay a major share which, of course, would bring on higher prices for products.
We know we are not anywhere near a solution to our frustrations. And April 15 will continue to be the day of the year we all dread the most for some time to come.
Senator Landrieu joins in to save Letten
Three cheers to Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu who by-passed partisanship in announcing her support of Jim Letten for reappointment as U. S. attorney in the eastern district of Louisiana. Of course, Sen. David Vitter, who is in the same Republican party as Letten, led the way in campaigning to retain the very effective crime fighter.
Landrieu, a Democrat, already has a goodly number of supporters from the middle and conservative side of the political spectrum though she usually leans toward the liberal viewpoint. Her support of Letten should help her retain that support.
