Two St. Charles men are suspects in rash of thefts in Raceland

Two St. Charles Parish men are suspects in a string of recent thefts and attempted thefts in Raceland.

Joshua Rousseau, 30, of Hahnville was identified as one of the suspects and is currently at Nelson Coleman Correctional Center in Killona, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The driver, identified as George Hunter, 36, of Des Allemands, is still at large.

On Feb. 17, Lafourche Parish deputies investigated a string of crimes including burglary, theft and attempted theft mostly reported on St. Anthony Street in Raceland.

Some residents reported stolen property and others had some property moved to the roadside to apparently be stolen later.

Surveillance cameras captured images of a white male subject and a pickup truck with an unknown driver, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Through investigation, deputies identified the male subject as Rousseau. They were also able to determine the driver of the truck was Hunter. Warrants were obtained for both men for simple burglary, two counts of theft and seven counts of attempted theft, one of which was for attempting to steal a motor vehicle.

Rousseau was found to be incarcerated in St. Charles Parish on unrelated charges, and remains in jail there at this time.

Anyone with knowledge of Hunter’s whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Bayou Region by phone at (800) 743-7433 or online at www.crimestoppersbr.org. Tips can also be submitted using the P3 Tips app on a mobile device. Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 in cash if the information leads to an arrest.
