Unfortunately, the new year of 2014 will become more political as prospective candidates get into action seeking positions in the U. S. Senate and House of Representatives.
Plus, there will be a lot of pulses beating as to the possibilities of candidacies and elections in 2016 when the next presidential election will occur.
At stake in the fall is a highly anticipated U.S. Senate race in which Louisiana voters will have a choice to re-elect Sen. Mary Landrieu or opt for the Republican Party candidate, currently expected to be Congressman Bill Cassidy of Baton Rouge.
The heat will also increase on the presidential election coming up which has just recently been upset when one of the main prospective candidates, Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, suffered a serious derailment. His administrative staff has been exposed for having led a movement to confuse and delay traffic in one of his bailiwicks of New Jersey to turn the voting public against one of the opponents.
Christie, appropriately apologized for such an unsmart ridiculous political stunt. But when one gets down to it, a candidate for president who would allow such a stupid blunder may not be the one to continue our lead in the free world.
The probable decrease in Christie’s acceptance by Republicans should open the door for our own Gov. Bobby Jindal. After all, it is apparent he is still in the hunt for the top job. And if he gets it, Bobby, in our opinion, could do a good job of helping to run the world.
He is honest and intelligent. He is open to the people. He is likeable and sincere and he believes in the democratic philosophy that the people should be free to live their lives as they wish so long as they do not interfere with others doing so.
Bobby Jindal could make a good president. One of the main figures now standing in his way could be Hillary Clinton, whom it is indicated, still wants the job.
A choice between Clinton and Jindal should be easy for folks from Louisiana. It’s true, he has not pleased us all the time, but he has been even tempered and opened the stage to the opinions of others.
It’s still early, but having a person of Indian heritage from Louisiana in the White House would be quite an accomplishment. Anyone who believes in giving our citizens the freedom they are supposed to have in this country instead of governmental requirements would appreciate a president who favors private enterprise and freedom of choice with necessary government oversight.
It is the way our country should go in the future.
