9th annual Satellite Center Video and Animation Festival

DESTREHAN – The ninth annual Satellite Center Video and Animation Festival (SCVAF) will be held on Friday, April 4.

Public screenings of submissions will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. followed by an awards ceremony from 7:15 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. A guest speaker from the local film, broadcast, or animation industry will kick off the awards ceremony with a brief talk about what it takes for students to be successful in those industries. Admission for the event is free and it is open to the public.

Students from participating high schools create and submit entries in Animation: short film/documentary, public service announcement/commercial and music video; Video: Short film, documentary, news/sports, public service announcement/commercial and music video; Experimental: Video or animation entries are judged and scored by professionals from the animation, film and video industries.

The night of the festival there is a three-hour screening of the submissions followed by an hour-long awards ceremony.

Last year the festival received over 100 entries from seven local high schools and attracted more than 300 video and animation enthusiasts to the screenings and awards ceremony.
