DESTREHAN – The Community Chorus of the River Parishes will present its annual Christmas Dinner Concerts at Ormond Country Club in Destrehan on Dec. 5 and 6. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for a social hour with cash bar. A delicious dinner buffet will begin at 7 p.m. and concerts will follow at 8 p.m.
Some of the selections to be performed include – “Pachelbel’s Canon of Peace,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Gesu Bambino,” “The Best Gift of All, Silver Bells,” “Jesus,” “The Light of the World,” and other traditional Christmas songs.

Established in 2000, the Community Chorus is now in its eighth year. It is open to and welcomes all. DESTREHAN – The public is invited to attend the spring concert for the Community Chorus of the River Parishes on May 23 at 7 p.m. at the St. Charles Borromeo Church on River Road in Destrehan.
The concert will be inspirational in theme and will be ideal for family entertainment and all those who love music.
The concert is free and open to the public. Donations are accepted. The chorus also performs at no charge for church groups, the Council On Aging, veterans organizations and the parish.

The chorus is looking for new members and is open to all who love to sing. At present, the chorus has members from St. James, St. John and St. Charles parishes and continues to grow in number.

BOUTTE – The St. Charles Community Band will perform a free concert on Tuesday, May 6 at 7 p.m. in the Hahnville High School auditorium.
Musical selections will include a John Philip Sousa march, musical selections from the movie Chicago, highlights from the Broadway hit Fiddler on the Roof, as well as a Dixieland arrangement combining Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus with When the Saints Go Marching In.
