Annual gospel fest on May 31

BOUTTE – Rev. Robert Pardo and the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Boutte invite everyone including congregations and choir groups to participate in Mt. Zion’s annual gospel festival.
The festival will be held on May 31 and June 1 at 107 Magnolia Ridge in Boutte from noon to 7 p.m.

Boutte school hosts free meals

BOUTTE – The Boutte Christian Academy is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge. Acceptance and participating requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color national origin, sex, age or disability.

Meals are provided at the following sites and times:

Double Deuce to perform at dance

DES ALLEMANDS – St. Gertrude Catholic Church will hold their monthly dance on Saturday, May 31 from 8 a.m. to midnight at the Father Mac Community Center.

Music will be performed by Double Deuce. Tickets are $15 per couple. Bring your own liquor.

St. Charles Parish Library May computer classes

St. Charles Parish Library is offering free beginner level computer classes at three library locations.

All classes are single two-hour classes, not continuing courses.

It is necessary to register for each class you wish to attend, but you may register for all available classes at the same time.

Call any St. Charles Parish Library or visit their website to register. Classes can be repeated. Classes are:

•Basic Computer Skills – May 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Rose location, May 15 from 10 a.m. to noon at Luling location.

•Internet Basics – May 6 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Destrehan location, May 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Rose location and May 29 from 10 a.m. to noon at Luling location.

•Basic Microsoft Word – May 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Destrehan location and May 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Rose location.

•Basic E-Mail – May 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Destrehan location and Jun2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Rose location.

United Way holds blood drive May 29

United Way of St. Charles will host a blood drive with The Blood Center on Thursday, May 29 from noon to 4 p.m.
The blood drive will be held at the United Way of St. Charles at 13207 River Rd. in Luling. It costs nothing to give blood and you will get a free t-shirt. Just bring an ID with you.
