Together the R.J. Vial Jaguars and the New Orleans Saints tackle bullying

R. J. Vial Elementary School in Paradis recently held their kickoff of the Olweus Bully Prevention Program with the New Orleans Saints. “We contacted the Saints organization to see if they could send any personnel to our school to share stories about being ‘bully-free,’” said Angelle Babin, a spokesperson for the school.

“We were fortunate to have them take us up on the offer. Saints administration and the Satintsations were present for the event.”

The OBPP is the most researched and best-known bullying prevention program available, says Babin.

“It has been successfully implemented worldwide and supported by over 35 years of research.”

The program’s goals are:

– to reduce existing bullying

– to prevent development of new bullying problems

– to achieve better peer relations at school

The school and the New Orleans Saints worked together to give the students a really great start to becoming bully-free through the Saints Gatorade Challenge.

The Saintsations were on hand to teach some of our girls the way the Saintsations perform.

R.J. Vial is piloting the OBPP this year bullying is not acceptable in St. Charles Parish.
