For the second time this season, the Hahnville Tigers pulled out a slim victory over Destrehan, beating their rival 7-6 on Saturday.
The Tigers went into the second inning behind by one, but tied the game on a left field RBI double off the bat of senior Chase Bagot that plated Hahnville junior Braxton Dufrene.
Senior Mark Abate then gave his squad the lead when he knocked a double to center field to score Bagot. However, Connor Caminita stole home in the top of third to tie the score again 2-2.
The game stayed locked at 2-2 until the bottom of the fourth until Hahnville went ahead 3-2 off the speedy wheels of Cade Miguez. The Fighting Wildcats tied it up again in the top of the fifth, 3-3, but the bottom of the fifth belonged to the Tigers who scored four runs and never surrendered the lead again, despite DHS coming within one with three runs of their own in the top of the sixth inning.
Sophomore Austin Perrin logged the win for the Tigers after giving up 10 hits and striking out eight.
On Thursday Hahnville handed Thibodaux a loss, invoking the mercy rule after five innings with a 17-7 rout. The Tigers scored nine runs in the top of the first inning and eight more in the top of the second.
Senior pitcher Trent Bergeron recorded the win for the Tigers He gave up four runs over four innings of work. He struck out three, walked three and allowed six hits.
