Tigers dominate Sarah Reed, 56-6

Domination is a strong word, but not strong enough to describe the Hahnville Tigers’ 56-6 victory over the Sarah Reed Olympians on Friday night at Tiger Stadium. The Tiger defense did not allow any points and only a small handful of first downs while the offense roared for 430 yards. Leading the way was Tiger running back Ahmad White who ran for 127 yards and three touchdowns.

Last week, Tiger Head Coach Lou Valdin was unhappy that quarterback Brian Ensminger had to scramble so much. This week, that was not the case as Ensminger scrambled just once, spreading the ball around to five different receivers and completing 12 of 18 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns.

The only points Sarah Reed managed to put on the scoreboard came on an early first quarter 72-yard interception return for a touchdown. That brought the Olympians within one point of the Tigers at 7-6. But that was as close as they would get as Hahnville had taken a 21-6 lead by the end of the first quarter on two rushing touchdowns from White and a touchdown reception by wide receiver Derek Howard.

The Tigers put two more touchdowns on the board by the end of the first half on a 31-yard White run and a 20-yard touchdown catch by wide receiver Dontrell Strickland.

In the second half, even the defense got in on the scoring with a 58-yard interception return for a touchdown by defensive back Sergio Medina. Then the reserves started to switch in and added two touchdowns of their own on a short touchdown run from running back Michael Ford and a dazzling 49-yard dash by running back Ernest Thompson.

The Tigers are now 2-0 as they look ahead to the 1-1 Lutcher Bulldogs who pounded Scotlandville Friday night 56-12.
