Lady Wildcats throttle South Lafourche

The Destrehan Lady Wildcats went 2-2 over last week playing in the Sulpher tournament and going on the road to East St. John.

DHS handed South Lafourche a 17-0 shutout loss in league play on the road to start the week. Freshman Kaela Schiro, junior Krista Robles and senior Morgan Foret all got on the board in the top of the first to go ahead early 3-0.

Robles took her second turn crossing the plate from third base in the top of the third inning when junior Katie Brady lined a single to center field. Sophomore Julie Scheuermann scored in the top of the fourth off a Robles hard ground ball to the short stop.

The Ladycats ended  South Lafourche’s hopes of victory when they scored 11 runs in the top of the fifth inning. Foret had five RBI’s on four hits, including a two-run double. Scheuermann, junior Taylor Lucich, and sophomores Victoria Ostrowski, Tabitha Tabb and Jaslin Benefield all hit RBI singles.

Carla Beck recorded the win, striking out six, walking two, and allowing no earned runs in five innings. Friday the girls traveled to Pattison Park for a non-league game against Tioga High School where they suffered an 8-7 defeat.

Robles went eight innings and allowed three earned runs on nine hits, one walk and five strike outs. Brady hit a home run in the second inning and singled in the eighth. Lucich scored on Brady’s homer and Foret scored on Lucich’s line drive single to left field in the same inning.

Robles singled to left field scoring Junior Amanda McNaughton. Despite two scores late in the eighth inning by Lucich and Brady, the Lady Cats came up just short of the win.

Despite the lopsided 13-4 score against West Ouchita several Destrehan softball players performed well on Saturday . Foret hit a dinger in the bottom of the second, singled to left field in the bottom of the fourth and singled to center field in the bottom of the sixth.

Schiro stole home in the bottom of the seventh inning and Robles scored on an error giving DHS a couple more runs before the last strike out ended the game.
