Lady Cats extend win streak to 7

Destrehan stayed strong last week with wins over H.L. Bourgeois, North shore, East. St. John and Terrebonne, improving their district record to 11-2.

The Lady Cats were tied 3-3 with Bourgeois in the top of the sixth on Tuesday, but DHS scored two runs in the frame to take the lead, 5-3. They held off Bourgeois down the stretch to secure the win.

On Thursday, Destrehan shutout East St. John 15-0 with the help of two home runs. Junior Taylor Lucich banged a three-run home run in the fourth inning, and senior Hailey Draughton homered to left field scoring sophomore Julie Scheuermann.

Sophomore Carla Beck recorded the win allowing no earned runs, one hit, three strike outs and one walk.

The Lady Cats extended their win streak on Saturday with a 10-1 win over Terrebonne. Freshman Kaela Schiro hit RBI singles in the first and second innings while junior Katie Brady hit an RBI single in the first frame.

An error scored Lucich in the second inning, and a single by Beck scored Scheuermann  and Brady. DHS put the game away when junior Krista Robles blasted an RBI double to score junior Amanda McNaughton.

Beck recorded the win after striking out four and giving up just three hits in seven innings.
